The “Companies” module is required to populate so that vendors, supplier, manufacturer lists can be populated in reports, and assigned responsibilities in CE.  It is one of the initial steps in setting up the database is to create a list of contractors, suppliers, vendors and such so they can be allocated to tasks, cost items, contracts, reports etc.  


The process for creating/editing Companies is outlined below:

A Company is used in multiple locations within the database a company is created by left clicking the NEW button in the Company module.  When creating a company, it is required that a user enter in a name, description, and company type.  


A Company Type is used to classify a company as a vendor, supplier, contractor, EPCM, or manufacturer. There are dropdowns (assignments) to records that are associated with vendors, suppliers, manufacturers and contractors. CE utilizes this classification to define which companies are displayed in various company centric dropdowns.  


A Discipline assigned to a company is used for companies that are flagged as a “manufacturer” primarily for assets.  If an asset is Mechanical, then it will list all manufacturers with the Mechanical discipline.


A Responsibility assigned to a company is designed to define if a company is referenced in specific modules within the software platform. As an example, if I select a company to be associated with contracts, then in the contract module where there is a company dropdown the interface will only show companies that have this module assigned.

The Address and Contact Tab allows for the input of:


  • Company Address
  • Mailing Address
  • Primary Contact

The “Resource” tab is designed to assign resources (e.g. contractors, employees, suppliers etc.) to a company, so when assigning, for example, a task to a person, it is usually pre-filtered by selecting the company first, then a resource from the selected company.


It also allows a user to review a company and see all the associated resources for that company and their contact information.



After all information has been entered select the 'Save' button and then close the Company Edit Form.
